What is dimethyl silicone and why is it in my PAM olive oil spray?

First thing i'm going to say is this, don't use oil sprays. Have you ever seen Jamie Oliver? He chucks oil on his food like it's going out of fashion and he's perfectly healthy. Oil isn't bad for you, but remember to use olive or grapeseed oil as these are the healthiest. Consider it this way, in simple terms; saturated fat makes you unhealthy and unsaturated keeps you healthy. You can't be healthy without enough fat.

PAM Olive Oil ingredient list: Extra virgin olive oil, soy lecithin, dimethyl silicone, propellant

(does not state what type of propellant)

As for the dimethyl silicone:

SPN-815 Activated Dimethyl Silicone Emulsion is a water dispersable form of a polydimethylsiloxane and silicone dioxide mixture . The chemically inert nature of this product facilitates its use as a defoamer/ antifoam in Textile, Paint and Varnish, Paper, Food, Beverage, Cosmetics and Chemical processing.

In short, use natural olive or grapeseed (it's an odd shade of green but is surprizingly healthy) oils in cooking, not prossesed stuff with things like that in it.

We have officially stopped using this poison to cook or bake with. I use a little oil and dust baking pans with a little flout as well to bake with . Safer and healthier...
