Meditation Once in a meditative state begin to notice all energies. Yours, those around you, everything has a specific energy. Separate yours from all the others. Feel it begin to come in closer to you. See it stick to your skin, then go into you like a protective shielding for your body, which goes inward toward your inner light. It moves through your body with your skin as the barrier holding it all in. This is you. At peace and whole. This should feel pure. Imagine all this energy as solely positive. You and your bodies energies are centered. Now imagine all those energies going straight down. They go right through the lowest part of your body (if you are standing this would be your feet and if you are sitting this would be your butt). Down through any man made substances under you, straight down through the ground and into the earth like tree roots. Envision them growing down, extending deep into the earth’s womb.
Imagine your energies and the earth’s energies mixing and becoming one.
See yourself as a tarren(human) tree stationary and permanently a part of the earth.
Feel the love coming from the great mother and feel inner peace within the self. You are grounded to the earth mother.

Comment by Katie Crews on May 12, 2013 at 6:33pm Everybody abstracts a different reality. When you come through a room, you abstract the reality you're prepared to abstract. You pick up the signals that interest you. Your brain records them and organizes them.
We all have our own reality tunnel, and in our reality tunnel we pick out some things and ignore other things. And we got 10 billion cells in our brain receiving hundreds and hundreds of millions of signals all the time. We just pick out the ones that fit into the established grooves in our brain, the reality tunnel that's been laid down by past experience. We all have our own belief system, and the signals that fit our belief system get in. The signals that don't fit our belief system get ignored, or if they keep coming back we go to a psychiatrist to get cured and make them go away.
Once you get used to thinking in terms of whether we're tuned in or not tuned in, then all of the problems in philosophy about being and non-being and so on, seem absolutely nonsensical. We don't know what is or what isn't, all we know is what we tuned in or what we didn't tune in. If you keep track of what you tuned in, that's what you can talk about meaningfully; what you didn't tune in, you can only make guesses about, or noises or garbles, or frantic hand gestures, but you can't really know anything about them, you only know what you've tuned in. -Robert A. Wilson
Comment by Katie Crews on May 12, 2013 at 6:26pm Okay, so have any of you heard of Robert Anton Wilson and The Discordian Society? It it a "religion" if you could even call it that, more of a mockery, based off of chaos. It is really al in good fun, and a subject that I just love. Everything contradicts itself and on purpose.
Spectacles, testicles, brandy, cigars -- you're all popes! You're all absolutely infallible. I have the authority to appoint anyone a Discordian Pope, because I'm a Discordian Pope. The first rule after you become a Discordian Pope is to excommunicate every Discordian Pope you meet. This is based on the basic Discordian principle that we Discordians must stick apart.
Discordians don't have dogmas, which are absolute beliefs; we have catmas which are relative meta-beliefs. And the central discordian catma is, as I said before, any affirmation is true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense. And if you repeat this 666 times, you will achieve supreme enlightenment -- IN SOME SENSE!
There are approximately 12 million discordian popes now. Originally, Malaclypse the Younger, founder of Discordianism, had cards printed and he'd just hand them out to everybody he met making them popes.
Most religious people take themselves too damn seriously, which is why they act like such damn fools. I'm using the word damn for the paradoxical effect.
REMEMBER: KING KONG DIED FOR YOUR SINS.
I'm also a Buddhist, a Taoist, and a Confucian as well as a Discordian, a Subgenius, and a Witch.
I will officially announce that everyone in this room is now a Discordian Pope, just like me.
Spectacles, testicles, brandy, cigars. You are all absolutely infallible. And don't take crap from anybody. Okay.
Well, I'm an ordained pope in the Church of the Subgenius, which means I'm absolutely infallible. So don't dare contradict anything I say. As for my relationship with Einstein, I deny all the rumors.
You're only infallible about your own nervous system. You know what's going on in your own nervous system. Whatever realities you're creating out of the infinite flux of being, you don't know anything about anybody else's reality unless they tell you about it. You gotta listen very sympathetically in order to understand them. So it's a limited infallibility. (This is all from Robert A. Wilson)
Now that you are a pope, these are the guidelines for being as such...
Rights and Responsibilities:
The Rights of =POPE= include, but are not limited to:
To invoke infallibility at any time, including retroactively.
To completely rework the Erisian Church
To baptise, bury and marry (with the permission of the deceased in the latter two cases).
To excommunicate, deexcommunicate, reexcommunicate and dereexcommunicate (no backsies!) both his-/her-/it-/them-/your-/our-/His-/Her-/It-/Them-/Your-/Our-self/selves and others (if any).
To perform all rites and functions deemed inappropriate for a Pope of Discordia.
Popes are entitled to choose appropriate headgear as is suitable for the office, though are entirely optional as decreed by his holiness Saint George Carlin.

The Bureau of Land Management has announced it is delaying an auction for drilling leases in Colorado following a public outcry. Leases for more than 20,000 acres in the North Fork Valley were set to go on the block this month. But residents organized a campaign raising environmental concerns, including the impact of hydraulic fracturing on the quality of water and air.

Washington state has put into effect two news laws today with major national significance. As of midnight today, possession of up to one ounce of marijuana is now legal in Washington following the approval of a state ballot initiative last month. In enacting the measure, Washington is the first U.S. state to decriminalize recreational marijuana use and the first to do so anywhere by popular vote. Meanwhile, same-sex marriage is also now legal in Washington as of midnight, after also having been approved by voters on Election Day one month ago.

Comment by Derwin Sherwood on September 25, 2012 at 10:07am A group of environmental activists in northeast Texas say they have scaled 80-foot trees and are vowing to remain in an effort to block tree-clearing equipment that is making way for the controversial Keystone XL oil pipeline. On Monday the eight protesters held a banner reading, “You Shall Not Pass,” and said they will remain in the way until the controversial pipeline is stopped for good. The action is the latest in a series of protests by pipeline opponents who say the project will poison local communities and damage the climate through increased greenhouse gases. The Keystone XL pipeline would carry oil from the Alberta tar sands to Gulf Coast refineries. President Obama has delayed a final decision on the pipeline until after the November election.
